About

SaveMyRacket.com is a bespoke advertising portal where players and the tennis world can sell their rackets and equipment.

The concept was born after a conversation between a parent and a coach discussing what to do with orange lines, balls and an outgrown racket size with his son moving to under 10 age group. A high number of junior rackets are abandoned on change of ball colour and never used again. The same situation arises when an adult player changes his or her racket. The more the parent and coach discussed and spoke to other parents and players they quickly realised the need for this service within the tennis community.

Phillip Minchin

phil-minchinI have loved tennis since I can remember, I used to bike to my local tennis club, and only come home when I needed to eat, then go back.

My family and friends play tennis – some play socially and some compete. I hit with friends that have never played before and it is amazing watching their determination. Some of them are extremely fit in other sports, after 15 minutes they are huffing and puffing. Great fun ! .

I also see the whole spectrum of tennis from sponge ball, mini red tennis through to veteran tennis. I recently played doubles with a guy in his 80`s, he didn’t miss one volley !

The appeal of tennis is now far reached with grass roots tennis being offered through schools and local clubs. Tennis clubs and coaches work extremely hard, they run clubs, coach, work out training programmes, support tournaments, string rackets…and then there is the support of the parents that underpin the whole process…

One thing which is still quite amazing, is the struggle for parents/tennis players to acquire tennis equipment and the lack of information out there to help. I have also noticed that in the last 2 years, that people buy and sell almost anything on-line today, I also noted that more and more tennis people asking coaches to see if anyone is selling any rackets… I then began to raise the question, recycling rackets back into tennis, what happens to the old tennis balls, tennis shoes etc…lets save the equipment.

This is when `Save My Racket` was born.  It is not only an tennis advertising portal, its more, a forum, and information point for tennis enthusiasts

Cameron Upton

cameronSaveMyRacket.com came about when Cameron and Phil were discussing what to do with a set of orange lines, balls and an outgrown racket when Phil’s son was moving age groups. These were sold with no problem and they quickly realised that a bespoke website for buying and selling used tennis rackets and equipment incorporating a charity and recycling element was viable!

Cameron Upton is a Senior Performance Tennis Coach and has worked in all aspects of coaching from club grass roots to performance players for over 25 years.

A high proportion of his work is in mini tennis, Red Orange and Green ball. Players will look to change rackets sizes when they move age groups.Cameron is frequently asked by parents/players about what they can do with their used rackets once they have moved to the next  size. Its the same scenario with full size rackets when a player makes a new purchase.[/ezcol_1half_end]
